Traffic restrictions in Unirii Square, in the Cantemir–Horoscope Restaurant area, will be lifted starting Monday morning, as the new school year begins, Sector 4 Mayor Daniel Băluță announced. The mayor estimates that traffic in Bucharest will return to normal levels. The announcement was made at the Unirii Deck construction site, where work has continued since interventions began on June 10, 2025. Băluță said that the project has advanced more quickly than anticipated and that the old structure, built nearly 100 years ago and in an advanced state of deterioration, has been replaced with a new one.
In the coming period, work will take place within the construction site. The administration’s objective is to complete the concrete slab by the end of this year. The authorities also intend to return the fountains in Unirii Square to their original position and determine the solution for restoring Unirii Park. Projects to prevent flooding are also being prepared in the area, involving overflow pipes for excess water from the Dâmbovița River, as well as a new access route to the metro stations. The work is expected to be organized so as not to affect road or pedestrian traffic.
