New traffic restrictions will be introduced in Bucharest starting Wednesday, September 16, on Theodor Pallady Boulevard, to allow work on the tram line rehabilitation to continue.

From 10:00 a.m., road traffic on the access road adjacent to the Ikea overpass, in the outbound direction, will be reconfigured. Traffic will use one lane, instead of the two currently available, on a temporary road. At the same time, the traffic light system at the intersection with Nicolae Teclu Street will operate in flashing yellow mode for the duration of the works.

The Traffic Police Brigade recommends that drivers obey the temporary traffic signs, drive carefully, maintain the necessary distance for safe braking, and follow the instructions of traffic police officers.

The works are part of a major project to modernize tram infrastructure. The contractor has already installed the first new rails between 1 Decembrie 1918 Boulevard and Titan Complex, while approximately 80% of the earthworks and retaining walls on Lot 1 have been completed. Asphalt layers have been laid and the first poles have been installed.

Lot 1 includes Theodor Pallady Boulevard, 1 Decembrie Boulevard, Basarabia Boulevard, Calea Călărașilor, Corneliu Coposu Boulevard, and the Titan Complex loop. The works, awarded to PORR, began in September 2025 and are scheduled to last two years.
