In a case where Florian Coldea, former deputy director of SRI, is being investigated for serious crimes, Judge Raluca Moroșanu decided to reject the DNA's request to conduct computer searches on Wang Yan's phone, a Chinese businessman involved in cases of influence peddling and pimping. The judge argued that the interference with Wang Yan's right to private life would be excessive and that the aspects invoked by the prosecutors could be proven by other means of evidence.
Wang Yan, who held Romanian citizenship, was involved in child trafficking scandals and was considered a danger to national security, which led to the loss of his citizenship. During the hearings, he stated that he does not remember details related to Florian Coldea, who was saved in the phone under another name. The judge emphasized that many of the statements made by the prosecutors are not related to the subject of the case and that evidence can be obtained by other methods, without violating Wang Yan's rights. This decision reflects the complexity of the case and the challenges faced by authorities in investigating corruption and trafficking networks.
