Alexandru Săvulescu, the former head of the General Surgery II Department of the 'Dr. Carol Davila' Central Military Emergency University Hospital in Bucharest, has reached an agreement with DNA prosecutors for 29 counts of bribery. He received money, jewelry and other products to perform surgery or examinations. The penalty is three years' suspended imprisonment and a ban on certain rights, including the right to practise. Prosecutors have also proposed the confiscation of sums of money, in lei and foreign currency, which they suspect cannot be justified.
