Cezar Avramuță, nicknamed Stegarul Dac, scaled a building in Rahova Penitentiary to protest against the lack of medical care while on hunger strike. The incident drew the intervention of negotiating teams and prison management. Avrămuță, arrested for escape and destruction, was jailed in May 2023 after cutting his electronic monitoring bracelet. He now faces ten days in solitary confinement and has been moved to a separate cell for hunger strikers.
