Activist Cezar Avrămuță, known as the Dacian Flag-Bearer and a supporter of Călin Georgescu, was detained for 24 hours and is being investigated for assaulting a public official after allegedly striking a gendarme who was on duty. The incident occurred on Friday, October 2, 2026, at around 7:15 p.m., outside the Central Detention Facility in Bucharest, where Călin Georgescu’s supporters have been protesting since his incarceration.
According to the Bucharest Police, gendarmes notified the 14th Police Station after a man allegedly assaulted a member of the Romanian Gendarmerie who was maintaining public order. Judicial sources said that the person in question is 59-year-old Cezar Avrămuță. He allegedly struck the gendarme with his hands in the back area.
The man, who was already under judicial supervision in another case, was identified and taken to police headquarters. The prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sector 4 District Court initiated proceedings for the offense of assaulting a public official and ordered his detention. On October 3, he was due to be brought before a judge with the legally required proposal.
The investigation is being continued by prosecutors and police officers from the Sector 4 Criminal Investigations Service. In the same area, gendarmes recently issued 32 fines totaling nearly 38,000 lei and notified the authorities in a case concerning the carrying of dangerous objects. Gendarmerie representatives also announced measures to protect access to buildings and the Central Detention Facility.
