Gendarmes issued 98 sanctions to supporters of Călin Georgescu

Gendarmes imposed 98 contravention sanctions totaling 84,500 lei in the area of Bucharest’s Central Detention Facility, where Călin Georgescu’s supporters gathered after his incarceration. Four reports were also filed with the criminal investigation authorities.

The Bucharest Gendarmerie said the demonstrations did not comply with the procedure provided for by Law No. 60/1991 on the organization and conduct of public gatherings. Public order and safety measures were implemented at the scene to manage the flow of people, keep access routes clear, and ensure traffic in the residential area.

The Gendarmerie’s dialogue teams are in constant discussion with participants, explaining the importance of declaring the gathering and having an organizer.

The criminal complaints concern the offenses of threats, destruction, assault on a public official, and possession of dangerous objects. Călin Georgescu’s supporters gathered in front of the Central Detention Facility from the moment of his incarceration. Georgescu is under a 30-day preventive arrest warrant in a fraud case involving estimated damages of 1.1 million euros.
