The municipality of Buzău proposes to ban electric scooters in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, including in the yards of educational institutions, due to the risk of accidents. In 2025, Romania recorded over 1,500 accidents involving scooters, mostly due to user fault. Mayor Constantin Toma emphasized that the measure comes in response to citizens' complaints and the alarming number of incidents, especially among children. The project is set to be submitted for approval to the Local Council and could come into effect next year.
