In recent months, the Romanian state has engaged in intense negotiations with OMV, resulting in a favorable outcome for Romania. OMV will withdraw the lawsuit from Paris and will cover all legal expenses, while also complying with the offshore law, which allows the state to halt gas deliveries. Romanian consumers will be the first to benefit from the extracted gas, followed by those in Austria, Hungary, and Germany. OMV has committed to pay the lawyers of Romgaz and ANRM and to waive the estimated environmental costs of 1 billion dollars. Additionally, royalties will increase by 40%, and the company will limit the annual production decline to a maximum of 3%. In return, Romania will extend the exploration licenses in the Black Sea by two years and the onshore ones by 14 years. There are also discussions about appointing a Romanian CEO at OMV Petrom. ANRM, led by Adriana Petcu, was the initiator of the negotiations, which did not affect the Neptun Deep project.
