The Neptun Deep project, dedicated to the extraction of natural gas from the Black Sea, is on schedule to begin production in 2027, according to a statement from OMV Petrom and Romgaz. Recently, the installation of the offshore production platform 'Neptun Alpha' was completed, a structure weighing 16,500 tons, located at a depth of 120 meters. This was carried out by Saipem and installed with the help of the Saipem 7000 crane vessel. The project includes 10 development wells, of which 6 are already completed, as well as a 160 km pipeline that connects the platform to the shore. The platform will process the extracted gases and direct them to the transport infrastructure. The project will continue with drilling of the wells, installation of the underwater infrastructure, and rigorous testing. It is estimated that gas production will increase by 75% starting from 2027, considering the estimated reserves of 100 billion cubic meters.
