OMV Petrom has announced that it is working closely with Romanian authorities and national security institutions to ensure the protection of the offshore energy infrastructure in the Black Sea. This cooperation aims to prevent and intervene in emergency situations, in accordance with national and international standards.

The energy infrastructure is located in Romania's exclusive economic zone, which is part of NATO, and the safety of operations remains a priority.

OMV Petrom's response comes after the destruction of a marine drone by the Romanian Army, near the Neptun Deep platform. The Neptun Deep project, an investment of approximately 4 billion euros, is considered strategic for Romania, with an estimated production capacity of 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, with production planned to start in 2027.
