The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) has announced the start of the design for sections 1 and 3 of the Unirii Highway A8, which will have a total length of 45 kilometers, funded through the SAFE Program.
The design will begin on August 24, 2026, and the actual construction works are scheduled to start in June 2027, after a 10-month design phase.
Contracts for design and execution have recently been signed with contractors from Romania and Spain. Section 1 Moțca-Târgu Frumos, 27 km long, will include 36 structures, four tunnels, and three road junctions. Section 3 Lețcani-Iași, nearly 18 km long, will have 18 passages, six tunnels, and two road junctions.
A priority segment of 5.5 km will also be built to ensure the connection with other highways.
