Snow removal operations on the Transfăgărășan: Brașov Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges is operating machinery in the Bâlea Lac area due to heavy snowfall

The Brașov Regional Directorate for Roads and Bridges is continuing snow-clearing operations on DN7C – the Transfăgărășan, on Saturday, as a significant layer of snow has accumulated in the Bâlea Lake area and traffic is moving under conditions specific to the cold season.

Road crews are using machinery to remove snow from the roadway and keep the road section in the best possible condition. The Brașov Regional Directorate for Roads and Bridges said that the alpine area is experiencing “genuine winter conditions,” with snowfall and significant accumulations.

Heavy snowfall began affecting traffic on the Transfăgărășan as early as Friday. At that time, intervention teams were deployed with snow-clearing machinery and anti-skid materials, particularly in the Bâlea Lake area, where weather conditions are more difficult.

Authorities warn that the weather will remain similar over the next few days. Drivers are advised to avoid traveling on this road section if their vehicles are not properly equipped for winter conditions, including with suitable tires and the equipment necessary for driving on snow-covered roads.
