President Nicușor Dan stated that Romania is in discussions with other states to compensate for the reduction in the number of American soldiers deployed in the country. These discussions are not recent but began long before the U.S. announcement regarding troop relocation. Although Dan refused to disclose which states are involved, he mentioned that current military exercises are part of the effort to harmonize troops that can act quickly. Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu previously confirmed that NATO allies, other than the United States, will send new troops and equipment to Romania following the partial withdrawal of American soldiers. Dan also discussed with NATO chief Mark Rutte about replacing the withdrawn troops with soldiers from other NATO states.
