President Nicușor Dan announced on Saturday that he had discussions with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on several topics, including the expansion of the demining program in the Black Sea, the NATO Summit in Ankara, and collaboration in the military industry. Nicușor Dan mentioned that Erdoğan is expected to visit Romania this year, during which a joint government meeting and a business forum will be organized.
Additionally, there was discussion about moving the NATO Center in the Black Sea from Istanbul to Constanța starting in 2028. Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of expanding the partnership in demining, considering Romania's interest in exploiting gas resources in the Black Sea.
He highlighted investment opportunities in the Romanian defense industry, which has underperformed in recent years. Furthermore, aspects related to the European civil security hub in the Black Sea were discussed, which will facilitate collaboration between the European Union and the countries in the region.
