The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, announced that so far no request for overflight has been received from Russian President Vladimir Putin in the context of the planned summit in Budapest. Ţoiu emphasized the importance of respecting good practices, according to which Putin requests permission before entering European airspace.
The summit, which will include a meeting between Putin and American President Donald Trump, is supported by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who promised to ensure favorable conditions for the negotiations, despite the international arrest warrant issued by the ICC against Putin. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that Hungary, as a sovereign country, will host the summit without needing external consultations. The Kremlin welcomed the summit proposal, highlighting Hungary's special position within NATO and the EU.
