Romanian police have apprehended four men wanted by Denmark for the murder of a fellow national, whose body was allegedly thrown into a river

Four Romanian citizens, aged between 22 and 31, were identified on Wednesday in the counties of Constanța, Dâmbovița, Buzău and Brăila, after Danish authorities issued European arrest warrants for them on murder charges. The suspects are accused of allegedly killing another Romanian in Denmark on August 24, 2026.

According to the Romanian Police, the victim’s body was allegedly tied to a car battery and thrown into a river. Information about the alleged crime was sent to the Romanian authorities through the Romanian SIRENE Bureau, which notified the prosecutors’ offices attached to the courts of appeal and the county police inspectorates.

Police officers in the four counties, under the coordination of the case prosecutors, identified and detained the wanted individuals. The Danish authorities were informed of their detention, and the procedure for executing the European arrest warrants is under way. The competent Romanian courts will next examine the necessary measures as part of the procedure for surrendering them to Denmark.
