Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that Romania will finalize on Friday the procedures for the funding application under the SAFE Program, which will allow loans of 16.6 billion euros. Of this amount, 4.2 billion euros are allocated for infrastructure, and over 12 billion euros for the equipment of the Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Bolojan emphasized that most of the funds for infrastructure will be used for the highway heads in Moldova, essential for connecting the regions.

The application will be discussed in the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) and then sent to the European Commission, with the expectation that the projects will be clarified by the end of the first quarter of next year. The SAFE Program, with a total value of 150 billion euros, supports member states in rapid investments in defense, and Romania will ensure that 50% of deliveries are produced locally, thus contributing to the development of the national industry and reducing the budget deficit.
