Oana Ţoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, firmly condemned the incident in which a Russian drone entered the national airspace, emphasizing that this act violates international law. Although the Russian ambassador stated that there are no planned flights over Romanian territory, Ţoiu highlighted that the drone is of Russian origin and that there is no evidence to contradict this.
She emphasized that Russia has generated risks to civilian lives and infrastructure by repeatedly attacking civilian targets in Ukraine, which has led to loss of human lives. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador to express protest against this violation of airspace and requested an end to the attacks on Ukraine, which also affect Romania.
Discussions were also held with partners from the European Union and NATO, highlighting security concerns.
