Radu Miruța says that the drone that crashed in Suceava has new technical characteristics: A protest is needed against those who do not respect international law, such as the Russian Federation

Acting Defense Minister Radu Miruță stated on Thursday, following the crash of the drone in Suceava County, that a protest against the Russian Federation is necessary because it does not respect international law.

The minister reiterated on Thursday, in an interview with Digi24, that the drone operated in Romanian airspace for four minutes.

At the same time, he emphasized that this time the aircraft entered directly from Ukraine. According to him, the drone has “new technical characteristics,” and eight aircraft were scrambled from the ground during the incident.

“A protest is necessary against those who do not respect international law, such as the Russian Federation. They must realize that this is not permitted and that we are making our position known,” Radu Miruță told Digi24.

Also, when asked why the drone had not been shot down, the acting Defense Minister said that the conditions required for this had not been met simultaneously.

“This is not a computer game,” he added, emphasizing that the proportionality of the event and whether the drone contains explosives are being analyzed.

The drone, which crashed near the town of Solca, Suceava County, was filmed by local residents and then also by journalists from News Bucovina.

The aerial target was initially detected by the radar systems of the Ministry of National Defense on Ukrainian territory, near the border, in the northern part of Botoșani County.
