The Republic of Moldova firmly condemned the violation of its airspace by three drones, incidents that occurred in several areas of the country and which the authorities say directly endangered citizens’ lives and regional security. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău also condemned the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
The first drone crashed and exploded in the morning in the outskirts of Hîrbovăț village, Anenii Noi district. Nearly five hours later, a second drone was detected in the area of Lunga, Dubăsari district. The third aircraft entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova at around 20:45 and was detected near the Ivancea–Brănești route. The drone reportedly crashed after hitting trees.
According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Defense, the aircraft was allegedly a Geran type, with a turbojet engine. Over the past seven days, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova has been violated eight times.
Russia’s designated ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, denied that the drones belonged to Moscow and called for evidence to be presented before accusations were made. His statements were made after the diplomat had been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău.
