An online poll launched by PSD Secretary-General Claudiu Manda indicates overwhelming opposition to supporting in Parliament the government proposed by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan. Two hours after it was published, 98% of participants said that PSD should not vote for the cabinet supported by PNL, USR and UDMR, while 2% said that the Social Democrats should invest it.
The question posted on Facebook by the PSD MEP was: “Do you believe that PSD should vote for the Siegfried Muresan Government?”. The poll result comes ahead of the PSD meeting called for Monday by party leader Sorin Grindeanu.
Grindeanu announced that he would propose that Social Democrat lawmakers not vote to approve the new government. He has already criticized the division of positions between PNL and USR, before Muresan presents his government program.
Siegfried Muresan said that PSD faces a choice between supporting a pro-European government and strengthening its partnership with AUR. The prime minister-designate says he starts with 169 votes from PNL, USR and UDMR and that he will subsequently hold talks with the national minorities’ group and PSD lawmakers.
