The manager of the "Dr. Victor Babeș" Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, Prof. Univ. Dr. Simin-Aysel Florescu, launched a proposal on January 22 for a campaign to promote flu vaccination, similar to anti-smoking campaigns. She emphasized the importance of using mass media to illustrate the complications of the flu, such as bronchopneumonia and acute respiratory distress, through explicit images. Florescu believes that presenting these images, along with relevant statistics, could have a greater impact on the population's attitude towards vaccination. She compared the proposal to anti-smoking campaigns that use shocking photographs on cigarette packs, suggesting that a similar approach could help increase vaccination rates. The proposal was made in the context of presenting a survey about parents' attitudes towards the flu vaccination of children, conducted by INSCOP Research.
