The National Institute of Public Health is running a national campaign on healthy eating and physical activity from September to October 2026. Under the slogan “Healthy choices today, a better life tomorrow!”, the initiative aims to help Romanians adopt habits that contribute to maintaining good health.

The campaign is aimed primarily at children and families, employees whose work is predominantly sedentary, and people over 65. NIPH warns that habits formed during childhood can influence long-term health. Fewer than two in ten high school students meet the WHO recommendation of at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day, while approximately 40% of adolescents consume fruit and vegetables daily.

For office employees, active breaks, reducing time spent sitting, staying hydrated and choosing nutritious foods are recommended. For seniors, age-appropriate exercise can support mobility and independence and reduce the risk of falls. Approximately one in two older adults follow the WHO recommendations on physical activity.

The organizers stress that schools, authorities, employers, hospitals, non-governmental organizations and the media have an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle。‌assistant to=final code->___ event_translation code? ઝડ (JSON malformed due punctuation?)}}
