A police officer from Argeș has been suspended from duty during the preventive measures ordered by the judicial authorities, after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol in the commune of Leordeni.

The incident occurred on July 3, 2026, when a man reported to the authorities that a police officer was driving a car in a state of intoxication, hitting garbage bins and continuing to drive with a dumpster under his car. Upon the arrival of the police, the officer, dressed in uniform, was identified with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, but he refused to provide biological samples.

He has been charged with refusing to submit to testing and has been placed under judicial control for 60 days, being prohibited from exercising his duties as a police officer. The IPJ Argeș stated that it will cooperate with the authorities to ensure the transparency of the investigations.
