Parliamentary public officials from the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have initiated a Japanese-style strike during the procedures for the investiture of the new Government, as a form of protest against the salary level they consider "humiliating".

The Union of Parliamentary Public Officials issued a statement emphasizing the importance of Parliament in Romania's legal system, arguing that current salaries do not reflect the responsibilities and duties of the parliamentary public office. The protest focuses on maintaining the same status in the draft of the Unified Salary Law, which does not bring significant improvements.

Parliamentary public officials are calling for a reevaluation of salaries, considering the essential role of Parliament in legislation, parliamentary control, and foreign relations. This action highlights grievances related to working conditions and the recognition of the importance of the public office within the rule of law.
