Oana Zoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the declassification of over 5,000 diplomatic files from the early years of the post-December transition, during an intervention at Digi24. This decision aims to increase the transparency of historical information, including telegrams from that period and how Romania's situation was reflected in the international press. Among the declassified documents is also the diplomatic correspondence related to King Michael's visit to Romania. Oana Zoiu emphasized the importance of the Romanian people's access to this information, stating that there are no reasons for fear for those who did not betray in the past. She mentioned that Romania has suffered due to the negative perception created by certain decisions, thus affecting access to international funding. The minister also encouraged other institutions to adopt similar transparency measures, emphasizing that it is essential to learn from the lessons of this transition.
