The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) has announced the modernization of the first six parking lots on the Bucharest – Ploiești Highway, located in the areas of Moara Vlăsiei, Ștefăneștii de Jos, and Gruiu. The concessionaire OMV Petrom will build modern facilities, including toilets, showers, fuel distribution stations, commercial spaces, and charging stations for electric vehicles. The works abandoned by the former contractor will be completed in the other parking lots, ensuring safe parking spaces, clean toilets, and relaxation areas.
MTI has identified deficiencies in the executed works, but the concessionaire has committed to remedying the issues. The project duration is 18 months, but there is a desire to reduce this timeframe. Additionally, the concession procedure for the second phase of parking lots has been canceled, and MTI is requesting the resumption of the bidding process to provide modern services throughout the highway.
