The unionists from the Free Metro Union (USLM) reject the accusations that the decision to increase fares for traveling by metro was made under their pressure, emphasizing that it was an agreement of the Bolojan Government. The interim Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, signed an order suspending the increase in the metro ticket price, which was supposed to rise from 5 to 7 lei starting May 1. USLM accuses the Government of not respecting a contract signed with Metrorex regarding the funding of public transport services, mentioning that the Ministry of Finance allocated only 750 million lei out of a necessary 1.27 billion lei for 2026. The union emphasizes that Metrorex has to recover 1.2 billion lei from the state for unpaid compensations, which affects the modernization of the metro. Radu Miruță also announced the convening of the Metrorex Board of Administration to revoke the mandate of the general director, Mariana Miclăuș, due to non-compliance with financial indicators. USLM will organize a press conference next week to clarify the situation.
