The Competition Council has authorized the transaction through which Romgaz intends to acquire certain Azomureș assets, including those used to produce chemical fertilizers and industrial products. The operation concerns the industrial platform in Târgu-Mureș and includes the contracts and employees required to carry out the acquired activity.
The decision was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the competition authority, following its analysis of the transaction. The assessment also took into account information provided by Romgaz regarding the organization and operation of the activity after the acquisition. According to the Competition Council, the activity must be conducted under market conditions, in compliance with competition and state aid legislation.
Romgaz is Romania’s leading natural gas producer and operates in areas including gas exploration, production and sales, underground storage, electricity generation and ancillary services. Azomureș, a company belonging to the Ameropa Group, produces and sells nitrogen-based fertilizers. The decision will be published on the Competition Council’s website after confidential information has been removed.
