Massive illegalities discovered at the weighing of trucks on the A2

The interim Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, revealed on Monday serious illegalities in the analysis of truck weighings on the A2 Highway, in the Constanța area. In March 2026, 14,429 trucks exceeded the legal weight of 40 tons, some weighing up to 123 tons.

Miruță emphasized that out of a total of 36,853 trucks checked, nearly 40% operated illegally. He also noted that over 2,600 license plates were repeated, indicating possible fraud. The minister criticized the authorities for their lack of response and called for a team from the State Inspectorate for Road Transport Control (ISCTR) to conduct on-site inspections using real-time data.

Illegal trucks were stopped immediately. Miruță requested the development of a legislative proposal to allow the automatic transmission of data to the authorities, thus eliminating any excuse in law enforcement.
