The Senate of Romania has tacitly adopted a legislative initiative that provides for free access to drinking water in public spaces, including institutions such as schools, hospitals, and transport hubs.
The project mandates the installation of dispensers in heavily trafficked areas, such as train stations, airports, and subway stations, to allow free access to drinking water.
The tacit adoption took place after the debate period expired, and now the project will be analyzed by the Chamber of Deputies.
The regulation includes strict hygiene and safety obligations, such as the use of biodegradable cups and entering into contracts with authorized suppliers for the maintenance of the dispensers.
These measures aim to improve access to drinking water and ensure its quality.
The project will come into force only after the approval of the Chamber of Deputies.
