The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests has launched a tender for the purchase of a 20 million lei airplane to collect LiDAR and photogrammetric data for forest monitoring. Financed through the PNRR, the plane will operate from Otopeni airport and will scan 70,000 km². LiDAR technology will make it easier to obtain 3D data to assess the state of forests, thus contributing to the efficient management of forest resources.
