The Galați Lower Danube River Administration Autonomous Authority has launched a procurement procedure to modernize the Danube monitoring system through a contract estimated at RON 49.14 million, excluding VAT. The deadline for submitting bids is December 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

The contract provides for the purchase and installation of equipment to measure water levels, flow rates and temperatures, as well as weather conditions. Equipment for conducting measurements on the Danube, IT systems and applications for recording and visualizing data will also be purchased.

The project includes measurements at 47 hydrometric stations and seven bridges, the installation and testing of equipment, and staff training. Of the total estimated value, RON 48.72 million is allocated to the equipment and related operations, while RON 420,000 represents a provision for price adjustments.

The procurement is part of the project “Rehabilitation and Extension of the Hydrometric Station Network Used to Maintain Navigation Conditions on the Romanian Danube Sector” (HyQ2), financed through the Transport Programme 2021–2027. The contract will run for 31 months and will be awarded based on the best price-quality ratio.

The Galați Lower Danube River Administration, operating under the authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, ensures navigation conditions on the Romanian sector of the Danube through dredging works, waterway marking, hydrographic measurements and the maintenance of hydraulic engineering structures.
