CFR SA launches tenders worth more than 4 billion lei for railway maintenance in seven regions

The National Railway Company CFR SA has launched a tender worth more than 4.09 billion lei, excluding VAT, for maintenance and modernization works on railway infrastructure in seven regions of the country. Bids may be submitted until November 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

The procedure, published in SEAP through the notice dated October 19, is divided into seven lots covering the regional branches in Bucharest, Craiova, Timișoara, Cluj, Brașov, Galați and Constanța. Each lot has an estimated maximum value of 584.5 million lei, while the framework agreements will run for 48 months.

The works target the successive replacement of rails, sleepers and ballast, including in areas with points and level crossings. They also include restoring the supporting structure, fully replacing the ballast and building continuously welded track.

CFR SA aims to restore the targeted sections to the technical parameters corresponding to the designed speeds for passenger and freight trains, as well as to remove speed restrictions once safety conditions have been met. Funding will be provided from the state budget, depending on requirements and available funds. The contract will be awarded based on the “best price-quality ratio” criterion.
