CFR SA is launching a call for artists interested in creating a public artwork at Bucharest North Railway Station in Bucharest, focused on the history of Romania’s railways. The project aims to reinterpret more than 150 years of railway history through a visual intervention installed in one of Romania’s best-known railway spaces.
The call is open to visual artists, graffiti and street artists, art students, and artistic collectives. Proposals may be submitted individually or as a team and may include mural painting, graffiti, street art, or illustration.
Selection will take into account the originality of the project, the quality of the concept, and respect for historical landmarks. CFR SA states that it will not provide fees, cash prizes, or other financial rewards. The selected artists will work on a voluntary basis under a collaboration agreement.
The company will provide the approved surface, facilitate access, and promote the project. Partnerships to secure the necessary materials are also being considered. The authors will benefit from having the work displayed, signing it, being mentioned on a panel, and having it promoted through CFR SA’s official channels. Applications are open until November 13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
