The call is open to applicants from Romania who have expertise in 3D digital heritage. Up to six proposals for practical training in 2027 will be selected. Funding is provided through contracts, after acceptance of the results, with no advance payment.
Museums, universities, companies, and independent professionals with experience in 3D digital heritage may apply for €5,000 each to organize practical workshops. Time Machine Organisation will select up to six proposals through the 3D-4CH Training Synergy Call, whose deadline has been extended until 29 October 2026. Applicants from Romania may also apply.
In brief:
1. Up to six workshop proposals may be selected, each with a €5,000 contract. Applications are open until 29 October 2026.
2. Organizations or independent professionals from Romania with expertise in 3D digital heritage and the ability to issue invoices may also apply.
3. The workshops will take place in 2027, with practical in-person exercises and at least ten participants in total for each funded proposal.
4. Payment is made after acceptance of the results, with no advance payment. The €5,000 includes VAT where applicable.
5. The materials produced must be published under open licenses, and the organizers will report on participation and training outcomes.
The funding is intended for those who design and deliver the training. A workshop may address, for example, capturing data from a heritage object, processing a three-dimensional model, or managing and reusing the resulting files. The topics must correspond to the 3D-4CH curriculum, which covers the process from planning digitization to long-term preservation. A proposal may cover one or more of these stages.
Each selected proposal will receive a €5,000 subcontract with Time Machine Organisation. The amount represents the total paid by the organizer, including VAT where applicable. Payment is made in no more than two installments, after acceptance of the agreed results, with no advance payment. Workshop organizers must therefore take into account when planning their activities that they will not receive the money before delivering the results associated with the first installment.
Organizations and professionals established in a European Union Member State or a country associated with Horizon Europe may apply. Expertise in 3D digital heritage is required, while experience in training is an advantage. Independent professionals may apply directly if they can issue a valid invoice. An institutional partner is optional, but collaboration will count positively in the evaluation. The workshops must also take place in an EU Member State or an associated country.
The activities are scheduled between January and October 2027. The proposal may include a single workshop or several sessions, including as part of a conference, summer school, or heritage festival. If the workshop is integrated into an existing event, the funded activity must be additional and separately identifiable, in order to avoid double funding.
The practical component must be delivered in person. A theoretical or introductory part may also be delivered online as a complementary element. The workshops within the same funded proposal must reach at least ten participants collectively. Those who follow the online component live may also be included in this threshold. The applicant must explain how participation will be recorded and demonstrated.
The materials produced under the contract must be made available under CC-BY or CC-BY-SA open licenses, which permit reuse subject to their conditions. Organizers must also submit a report on the activities, the number of participants, and the feedback received. Recording the theoretical part is recommended, and contributing reusable resources to the competence center is valued in the evaluation.
The official submission deadline is 29 October 2026, at 23:59 AoE, the abbreviation for Anywhere on Earth. This corresponds to 30 October at 13:59 in Romania and 12:59 in Brussels. Complete applications must be submitted through the Time Machine Organisation form. Evaluators will assess the relevance of the topic, the quality of the preparation, participant recruitment, feasibility, and contribution to the professional community. Results are scheduled for early December, and projects may start from mid-January 2027.
The European Commission presented the opportunity on 16 October, as part of the 3D-4CH project, co-funded through the Digital Europe Programme. The call aims to transfer skills that can subsequently be used in heritage institutions. Interested parties must propose a training activity that can be delivered within the contract, with clear objectives for learners, practical exercises, and results that can be documented.
