The Mureș Tribunal decided on Tuesday to sentence Emil Gânj to life imprisonment for qualified murder, after he killed a woman from Miheșu de Câmpie with multiple axe blows on July 8, 2025. Gânj, who had a criminal record, broke into the victim's home, destroying the windows and door, and attacked her, causing her death. Subsequently, he set the body and the house on fire, dousing it with gasoline.

The man was sent to trial in October for his actions, including corpse desecration and home invasion. Currently, Emil Gânj is wanted, having been placed in preventive arrest in absentia, and authorities have conducted extensive operations to capture him. Additionally, his brother is accused of threatening the victim's family.
