A 21-year-old Romanian man has been sentenced to life in prison in Sweden after tracking a 34-year-old man using a GPS device and fatally shooting him in Gothenburg. The crime took place in front of several children and was described by the court as a planned execution.
According to the ruling, the attacker fired 11 shots, eight of which struck the victim in the head. Three accomplices were also sentenced to life in prison for aiding and abetting murder.
The victim was tracked using a GPS device fitted under his car. Investigators used surveillance-camera footage, data on phones connecting to cell towers, as well as DNA evidence and fingerprints found on a car near the crime scene. The weapon used was recovered and contained the defendant’s DNA.
The attack is linked to a conflict between rival groups in the Biskopsgården neighborhood. The victim, whom police say held a leadership role in one of the groups, had already been injured in a shooting in the summer of 2024. Sebastian Răducanu denies the charges, and his lawyer has announced that the sentence will be appealed.
