The Coliboaia Cave, located in the village of Măgura in the Pietroasa commune, has been included on Romania's indicative list for UNESCO World Heritage, marking an important step towards its international recognition. The Ministry of Culture, through the National Institute of Heritage and the Crișurilor Country Museum, submitted the nomination file on April 15. The cave is considered essential for understanding the Upper Paleolithic, housing the oldest Aurignacian artworks in Eastern Europe. Discovered in 2009 by speleologists, the 10 parietal representations in the 'Gallery of Drawings' include animals such as bison and rhinoceroses, dating back over 36,000 years. This exceptional age makes it comparable to the Chauvet Cave in France, being a central argument for its inclusion in the world heritage.
