In the Brașov commune of Șoarș, the establishment of a new bison reserve is proposed, located within a Natura 2000 site. The project, currently under analysis by the Technical Commission of the County Environmental Directorate, will take place within the protected avifaunal area of the Hârtibaciu Plateau, known for its high biodiversity.
The selected area includes oak and hornbeam forests, meadows, and pastures, promoting the conservation of biodiversity and ecotourism. The municipality of Șoarș, the initiator of the project, supports that the investment will contribute to active conservation measures through the acclimatization of bison and the creation of an educational thematic park. The bison plays a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance, helping to control vegetation and stimulate plant regeneration.
The project includes the construction of a viewing platform, an avifaunal observation point, secure enclosures, and the modernization of the access road.
