A 45-year-old man from the village of Filia, Brăduț commune, Covasna County, was injured on Monday, November 2, after being attacked by a bear in the center of the locality, near the Police station. The incident occurred on the edge of a cornfield protected by an electric fence.
The animal managed to reach the man and caught his left leg between the fence wires, causing muscle injuries. The victim was taken by his son to the hospital in Baraolt, where he underwent surgery. His life is not in danger, and his condition is stable.
Intervention teams searched for the bear as far as the nearby pasture, but the animal was not found. Authorities fear that it may return to the area. If it enters the built-up area again and displays aggressive behavior, the local commission may order legal intervention measures, including the removal of the animal.
The attack has once again drawn attention to the problem of bears in Covasna County. On October 15, a woman from Zălan was attacked while taking her child to school. The damage caused by bears in the county has exceeded 1.8 million lei this year, nearly double the figure for 2025.
