An injured female bear was euthanized on Friday in the Pietrele lui Solomon area of Brașov after the intervention team found that the animal could no longer move and suspected a severe spinal injury.
The intervention was launched following a 112 call received on Friday morning reporting the presence of the bear on a forest road in the area. Team members went to the scene and assessed the animal’s condition.
According to Brașov City Hall, the female bear could not move her body, and her condition did not allow her to be relocated or recovered under normal conditions. In these circumstances, specialists decided to euthanize her in order to avoid prolonging the animal’s suffering.
The bear was estimated to be approximately 5–6 years old. Authorities have not yet provided information about the cause of the injury or the circumstances in which the female bear was injured. The euthanasia was carried out following the intervention team’s assessment after it was alerted via the single emergency number 112.
