Suceava Gendarmerie warns the public after a bear was seen in Rădășeni and Fălticeni and captured on camera in the Dumbrava Minunată area

Residents of Rădășeni and Fălticeni, Suceava County, are being urged to exercise caution after a bear was reported repeatedly during the night and later captured on surveillance cameras in the “Dumbrava Minunată” area. The animal moved toward a wooded area, while authorities continue to monitor it.

The first report was received at around 11:40 p.m. in Rădășeni. Gendarmes searched the area but did not find the bear. The “Bucovina” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations issued a RO-ALERT message, while crews carried out preventive patrols using acoustic and light signals.

At around 1:30 a.m., the bear was reported in Fălticeni and driven toward the area outside the built-up zone using the same methods. A team made up of local administration representatives and hunters from AJVPS Fălticeni was formed to monitor the animal.

On Saturday morning, following another 112 call, gendarmes checked the area without seeing the animal. At around 10:00 a.m., it was captured on cameras belonging to local residents in Dumbrava Minunată. People are advised not to approach the bear, feed it or try to drive it away, but to immediately call 112.
