Sovata City Hall, in Mureș County, will transform a deteriorated former greenhouse complex into a theme park dedicated to bears from around the world, through a €2.5 million project funded by European funds. The investment aims to convert an unused area into an educational, tourism and leisure space.

The park will not house live animals, but will present bear species through interactive installations, 3D models and educational materials. The entire space will be designed in the shape of a bear silhouette, while the route will include themed habitats inspired by the areas where these animals live.

In the “Bear’s Head” area, a circular wooden pavilion will be built, featuring a reception area, exhibition hall, video projections, restrooms and staff facilities. Models and installations made from natural materials, integrated into the landscape, will be placed where the paws would be.

Mayor Fülöp László Zsolt says the project is aimed at all generations and highlights local symbols, including Lake Ursu and the taxidermied bear on its shore. The works are estimated to take between four and five years.
