Târgu Secuiesc City Hall, Covasna County, will modernize and rehabilitate the town’s historic center through a European-funded project worth more than 5.2 million lei, equivalent to approximately one million euros. The investment is financed through the European Regional Development Fund, under the Regional Programme, Priority 8 – “An Attractive Region”.
The project primarily targets the redevelopment of Gábor Áron central square, with the aim of improving traffic flow, enhancing the urban appearance and creating a more accessible space for residents and visitors. In the southern part of the square, the existing ornamental fountain will be removed, while the roundabout will be reorganized into a two-way road system, with connections to Independence Street and the square.
The works include the redevelopment of sidewalks and green spaces, the installation of an irrigation system, the modernization of public and architectural lighting, and the installation of urban furniture. Interventions will also be carried out to improve access for people with disabilities, along with the partial relocation of utility networks.
The investment is part of a broader urban revitalization process. Nearby, Târgu Secuiesc City Hall is implementing a project for Jozsias Molnar Park, financed with nearly 1.5 million euros. Rehabilitation works are also underway at the former barracks, which will house the Guilds Museum, under a project financed with more than 30.6 million lei.
