The Capital City Hall has launched a public debate on a draft resolution for the establishment of a network of Climate Shelters, initiated by USR councilors Bogdan Sabo and Gabriela Dinu. These shelters will be located in public institutions, libraries, museums, parks, and green areas, ensuring citizens thermal comfort and access to drinking water during extreme heat or cold. The project aims to integrate at least 80 shelters by the end of the year, with the goal that every Bucharest resident will have access to a shelter within a maximum of 10 minutes walking distance from their home by 2028.

The initiative aligns with European commitments and the National Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation, having the potential to save lives and reduce pressure on the medical system. Citizens can contribute suggestions until March 3, 2026.
