On Tuesday morning, in the locality of Romanu in Braila County, a scene of horror unfolded in the yard of a family when the eldest daughter called 112 to report that her father had stabbed her mother. Prosecutor Ionel Gâlcă stated that the 40-year-old woman came out into the yard asking for help, having five injuries in the chest area and one in the lumbar area. The husband, 56 years old, subsequently mutilated himself. Both were urgently transported to the County Hospital in Braila, with the woman in critical condition, suffering from a thoracic injury that affected her heart.
The youngest son of the family, a 15-year-old boy, witnessed the incident. Neighbors stated that the family was not known for problems, and the age difference between the spouses may have contributed to tensions. Prosecutors have classified the act as attempted qualified murder, and on Wednesday, an arrest warrant will be requested for the man, who remains in the hospital under guard.
