A 34-year-old woman from Caracal, Olt County, was stabbed in the street by her 44-year-old husband, from whom she was in the process of divorcing. The attack took place a few days after the victim withdrew a complaint she had filed against the man for making threats. The attacker fled after the incident but was identified and apprehended shortly afterward by police.
The victim was taken to the Slatina County Emergency Hospital, where she is receiving medical care. According to the information available, her injuries are not life-threatening.
The investigation showed that, on October 4, the woman contacted the Caracal Municipal Police after her husband allegedly went to her home and threatened her. Police issued a provisional protection order and opened a criminal case for making threats. Subsequently, the court imposed a protection order valid for two months. The measure did not include electronic monitoring, and the woman refused the surveillance device. At the beginning of the week, she withdrew her complaint.
According to some reports, the man is a military officer, and the case was taken over by the Military Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutors are continuing the investigation into attempted murder and to determine whether there were indications of an increased risk to the victim.
