The assessment of trees in Brașov was carried out by specialists from various institutions, including the National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry and the Forest Guard, following a tragic incident in 2025, when a person died under a tree. The analysis focused on over 230 trees in the incident area, using modern tomography techniques to identify unstable trees, those with rot or structural defects.
Additionally, the trees in Gheorghe Dima Park were inspected, where trees with serious defects were found, posing a real risk to passersby. The Local Emergency Situations Committee will review the final report to determine the necessary measures, which will require the approval of the prefect. It is expected that over 30 trees will be removed, especially ash trees affected by an invasive disease, while the other trees will be monitored or pruned.
